What does MTD mean for you?
- Businesses have already been applying MTD reporting practices for VAT since 2022. The feedback has been positive - with most businesses reporting that the burden of submitting annual returns under the old system has been drastically reduced with more frequent and shorter reporting periods under MTD reporting rules.
- As from April 2026, qualifying self-employed earners will be required to report under the MTD mandate, keeping up to date digital financial records and submitting income assessments on a quarterly basis.
- Dates for phasing in MTD for corporation tax have not yet been set, although it will not be applied before 2026.
